The method is based on selective creation of the characteristic luminescence of uranium oxides (pitchblende, uraninite, etc.) by special processing, allowing the luminescence of uranium minerals when short-wave UV radiating.

The method allows to find out uranium oxides on a background of other dark-coloured and radioactive minerals, firstly to distinguish them from coffinite.
