SYMPOSIUM TOPICS

  1. Problems of energy development in the XXI century and the role of nuclear fuel.
  2. Natural uranium resources: present-day mineral-raw base and prospects of its development.
  3. Uranium production and demand, structure of the world uranium market.
  4. Uranium mining and processing technologies.
  5. Environmental problems of deposits development and radioactive wastes burials.

(Working languages – Russian and English)

The field trip to uranium mines of Streltsosvk (Chita region) and (or) Transural districts will be planned (if there are participants). You should mark your intention in the registration form ¹1.

SYMPOSIUM TOPICS

Problems of energy development in the 21st century and the role of nuclear fuel.

Uranium production and requirements, structure of the world uranium market (geological and economic aspects).

Uranium and by-products mining and processing technologies.

Environmental considerations for deposit development and radioactive waste disposal.

 

Papers/Posters Presentation

English and Russian will be official languages. Simultaneous translation will be provided. Participants are requested to use slides or overhead transparence for oral presentations.

Following presentation types are supposed:

Ordered papers for plenary meeting (up to 25 min)

Oral papers for sessions (up to 15 min)

Posters

The number of papers for oral presentation is limited. Authors will be informed whether their papers/posters have been accepted for presentation on the basis of the abstract.

Poster must include the following information (preferable in English and Russian):

Paper title (advisable font size is over 3 cm) including authors and organization names;

figures, maps, sketches, photos etc. with comments;

Text blocks containing abstract, main descriptive part and conclusion (advisable font size is over 2,5mm).

Poster board dimensions: 1m vertical, 1,5m horizontal.

Two copies of abstracts (in English) submitted for reproduction must be sent to the secretariat. Electronic version on 3.5 diskette or sent by E-mail is obligatory.

Abstracts must be printed in Microsoft Word 6,7(95) or 8(97) on one A4 format page of single spaced typing and Arial 10pt font. Do not use spacing for justifying and hyphenation. Paragraphs are marked by space line.

The abstract should give enough information on the contents of proposed paper to evaluate it. It must be sent to the organizing committee by 01

Margins: left, right, top, bottom – 2cm.

Deadline for Abstracts submission is 01 July 2000. The abstracts will be published by the beginning of Symposium.

 

Field Trip

General information. The field trip to Priargunsky Production Mining-Chemical Association (PPGHO), located in the town Krasnokamensk, Chita region, will include:

Visit to milling and processing plants;

Visit to underground mines;

Visit to heap leaching and underground block leaching sites. etc.

Amount of travelling group is limited by to 20 persons.

The average day temperature for this season is 15-18oC.

6 hours time difference between Moscow and Krasnokamensk.

Preliminary travelling program.

3 December (evening) - air flight Moscow-Chita (about 7 h.)

4 December – train Chita-Krasnokamensk (about 12h.)

5 December (morning) - arrival to Krasnokamensk

5-7 December – visit to PPGHO

7 December – departure from Krasnokamensk

8 December (evening) – arrival to Moscow

Preliminary travel and accommodation costs – 800 US$.

Organizers: VIMS, VNIIHT, Priargunsky Production Mining-Chemical Association (PPGHO).

 

Organizing Matters

Participants registration is planned for November 27, 28 from 900 to 1900 and November 29 from 800 to 1000 in VIMS building (Staromonetny per., 31, metro "Polyanka" or "Tretyakovskaya" – see attached map).

Forms of Participation:

Participants – can attend all sessions, present papers, participate in discussions. They will be provided by the book of abstracts, the symposium kit, information circulars, programs, etc.

Guests and Accompanying persons – can attend all sessions but are not allowed to participate in discussions and to present papers. They are not provided with printing publications.

Registration fee is 150 US$. The payment will be done in Russian rubles during registration.

 

Accommodation

VIMS is located in the center of Moscow not far from the Kremlin. The table and map give information about the nearby hotels.

The participants who are interested in assistance for hotel reservation should send by 01 July the request to organizing committee (together with Registration Form 2) indicating hotel name, category, type of room, arrival/departure dates.
